LOCATION
South Bend, Indiana
The history of Northern Indiana from original people to the present. Approximately 12,000 square feet.
Above is a recreation of the dredge boats that were used to drain the marshy areas of the upper Midwest to make the land suitable for farming.
Visitors pass through an interactive display to the deck of the boat— which shifts and tilts with their weight. No intact boat of this type exists, so we did original research and recreated the boat from historic photos and documents.
